says to Everyone: I am sitting in the small office on the back side of the forge in the village of Scagnar. Jonas had given me access to the forge again since my men and I would be creating a new arsenal for the men of Scagnar over the next several weeks. I was sitting with my two top captains, Omega Stormreaver, who was a skinny man. A former pirate that I recruited in Port Kar more than two decades ago. He had been a friend of a man named Nazeer who was at one point the most feared pirate in Kar, head of the pirate council. He looked the part of a pirate with multiple gold rings in his ears and a long scraggly goatee. I'd spent a lot of coin educating the man but for some reason he continued to keep the affectations of a pirate. Right down to the clothing that he wore. The other man sitting at the table is Christof Achilles, a man that I recruited right here from Scagnar just a few years after Omega joined me. He is a huge man, over six and a half feet and looks the part of the northern raider. He wore furs and a leather helmet, always carried a Torvaldsland shield. He wore a double bladed battle axe that a man from Ar probably would not even be able to pick up. The three of us sat at the battered table as the sounds of industry rang in the background. Equipment being moved in, cobwebs being cleaned out. A first shipment of steel from the Isles armory had arrived earlier this afternoon. Each of the men seated at the table with me were there because they wanted to be there as they were both rich beyond the wildest dreams of most of Gor. "well, it seems we are settling back into Scagnar again. Omega, tell me, what have we heard about the market for sea sleen pelts?"

says to Everyone: Omega leans forward and looks across the table, the gold caps on his teeth glinting slightly in the lamplight in the room. "aye boss, even though it is not quite the right time o' year for such things. I think we can unload some of them here and then perhaps send Ibrahim down the coast with the Tracker's Heart and we could get rid of the rest in the trading posts." He sits back in his chair, we had several hundred that we had harvested while visiting the innuits for the last few seasons. It would provide all of the funding that we would need to refit the ships and restock everything. This way I would not have to dig into my hoard for more gems or gold for the time being. I had already spent a few gold to put all of the men up. With three ships in port I had a group of several hundred men to man the three immense round ships. I then look towards Christof, "And how are the men? Have they been able to find lodgings in the town? Our trained smiths should plan on starting in at the forge complex tomorrow morning." I felt a bit bad that I was going to have the two dozen trained smiths that I brought with me start in the forges tomorrow morning. I had not expected to take on any commissions yet. I am sure they would all have liked to drink more ale and pile bondmaids on top of themselves for a few more days but they would just have to do that on their off days now.

says to Everyone: I stand up and go over to one of the shelves along the wall and take down a scroll that was rolled up there. I unroll it on the table and set one of my daggers on each corner to hold it down. I look towards the two men that are with me. "Omega, keep on the selling the sleen pelts. Feel free to send Ibrahim on a sales trip to be sure that we get rid of all of them. We may as well convert them into currency to buy other things." I then run a calloused fingertip along the architectural plans and looked over towards Chrisof, "my friend, since you are going to be handling labor for the time being, I want you to take a look at these plans. We are going to need to reconfigure some of the equipment so that we can produce more goods. I will also need a private forge here." I say as I tap a small alcove in one corner. "have my personal forge and equipment brought up from the ships and placed there." I roll the scroll back up and hand it to Christof. "take whatever men you need from those that were crewing the ships. We will also have to find some other tasks for them as I don't want them getting bored and starting fights." I look to the two of them, "dismissed." They both get up and leave the room to head off and take care of the projects that I had given them. I leave the small office in the back of the forge and walk over to the alcove that I want to use. It is a bit separate from the rest of the much more industrial looking forge. I imagine that this was the first part of this building and complex that was built. The forge for the first smith in town. It was exactly what I needed for the much more precise work that I would be doing.

says to Everyone: I walk into the alcove along the wall and open up some of the vents in the walls and light a sea sleen oil lamp. The walls are charred black in this room from all of the smoke that has been extruded from this small but very well built furnace. It would certainly work for my purposes. Most of the equipment inside beyond the furnace it self would be replaced by the equipment I was having brought up from my ship. The various hammers, and tongs, things like troughs. I was confident that everything would be set up in less than a hand so that we could get to production on the axes and shields that were required for Scagnar's armies. Long swords, spathas, helms, would be spit out by the precision of the men that were in my employ. I enjoyed making much more fine and detailed weaponry. Taking after my younger brother Caspian in many ways in that regard. I wore his masterpiece on my back, the axe that was commissioned by the men that would eventually kill him and the same axe that took the head from every single bandit that surrounded him and then like cowards fled into the night. I carried that axe with me all the time now even though I did not use it often in battle. I step back into the main part of the forge complex. There are six separate forges here, each of them quite large. They would require at least 4 trained smiths on each to keep them running from sun up to sun down. At this point all of the forges were cold but I could see wood and coal that was starting to accumulate along the walls. There were others running around and cleaning up where they could. The small forge that I would use was rather dark and foreboding. Out here it was much more open as all the smiths would be working in a communal space.

says to Everyone: The forges would likely be lit in the next couple of days. It would take some time for the coals to burn down to a point that they could be used to forge steel. I walk along the area with all the forges and then into a large open back room with workbenches. These workbenches would be used to make hilts for the blades, cut leather down to shape and size for handles and shield coverings. Along with the several hundred sleen pelts that we would be selling in the village if we could and on the mainland if we could not we had an immense amount of sea sleen pelt leather that we brought with us. Along with differing species from the north that we could harvest for leather, bone, and horn. I did not realize that I would be taking on such a large contract so quickly upon arriving in Scagnar but I had come prepared. I did not plan to travel north again for some time. Everything was coming along even faster than I had expected but the men were excited about this trip to Scagnar as they had all heard the tales of the bondmaids here. They were working hard to be sure that we could get ahead of schedule and I would give them more leave to spend in the village. There was not much more that I could do here tonight so I go back into the office blow out the lamps and lock up. This was the only private area of the forge complex and only my top Captains and I had access to it. I then head back down towards the docks. My ship, the Eye of the Beholder had a somewhat palatial cabin on it that I had upgraded over the years but I would probably have to find a place to stay in the village at some point. Ah well, that was a problem for another day.
